The giveaway is the Jackson JT-580 trem system, which they don't use anymore (no one but Ibanez uses Floyd-licensed tremolos anymore).

The neck pickup, same deal- stock it was the same as the middle that was left in there, a Seymour Duncan STK-1. The bridge pickup was not stock, btw- it came with a Seymour Duncan JB. That's a made in Japan Dinky DK2 from the early-mid 2000's. If the serial number identifier is correct it looks like it could be DK or DX via Jackson’s ’97 catalogue, but there is no other writing on the headstock aside from the logo. Though it seems like the consistency of Jackson’s serial numbers vary, the serial number looks to be which consistent with the numbering system laid out via Jackson’s support pages and with the posts over at JCFOnline. The serial number identifier is says it’s a 1997 MIJ. Normally I do the research first and purchase later, but the guitar felt great and played well so I purchased it knowing they have a 7 day return policy.Īfter digging though a ton of old forum posts and Jackson’s archives, I’m still trying to pinpoint the exact model/date of the guitar and if what I paid for it was reasonable.

I assume they stuck the serial number a serial number decoder, and didn’t push much further. The guys at the shop weren’t super knowledgeable and said that they couldn’t find much about it, except that they thought it was a late 90’s Japanese model of some sort. Recently picked up a Jackson from a local music shop for a new project, serial number 9774060.
